On Saturday, February 20th, The Independent will host Wild is The Wind, the second annual Nina Simone tribute created by Bemba Entertainment. On this very special evening, a tribute to the legend, Nina Simone, will take place in front of a limited audience. On this date, she will have turned 77.
Seven carefully chosen artists from the Austin area will pay tribute to the High Priestess of Soul. This very intimate evening will captivate you with performances by Pamela Hart, Akina Adderley, Kat Edmonson, Blues Mafia, Corrina’s Dreamland Band, Chandra Washington, and Bryce Clifford. Each performance will bring a different style of music to the night. (Although different in style, they all share something very important, in common.) That is, that they have all been influenced by Nina Simone and they each have a very special place in their hearts for her.
